Accent Painting for a Creative Home

It’s been a bit since I’ve actually featured someone. Just because it doesn’t happen as often as the past, I still snoop around and enjoy looking at everyone’s blogs.  I love seeing how people decorate, gathering new ideas along the way. I love finding blogs with creative ideas for home decor.  I’m loving all her accent painting she’s done in her home to add originality and personality.

Today’s Blogger is Our Fifth House.

Beautiful Carmel loves to decorate! She’s got quite the eye and flashes her own style coming up with some fun original ideas I think you’ll enjoy.

Accent Painting

One thing that caught my eye, were her interior black doors. I’ve been threatening to do this to our front door for a while. It makes such a difference in her home, I just love it!  Makes a statement!

Making a statement is a common theme in her home. This is one of my favorite walls. Painting the chair as an accent piece with the accent painted wall is stunning! Loving the message too. I wish I could copy this somewhere, but it I just don’t have the right space. accent painting

She loves to paint other things too………a girl after my own heart! What would we do without spray paint? She took your ordinary coke bottles and spray painted them a bright yellow.  Another perfect accent she created using paint.  Oh we love paint!

Speaking of all this paint, we couldn’t leave out the ever so popular Chalk Board Paint. Now this is bold! She took the whole wall and made it a family calendar! Isn’t she brilliant? She’s got a full tutorial.

For all you Union Jack fans, you’re going to go wild over this easy diy head board she did for her son. Decorating a boys room is HARD! I have several ideas for you. Her before and after shots are amazing………actually she’s really good at showing all the before and afters!

I love the idea of a pegboard for a headboard. I agree – decorating a boy’s room is extremely difficult. This looks like an awesome idea!
Thanks for sharing her site with us – I can’t wait to get in and see what all she has going on!

I really love the wall by the stairs…”Be Nice or Leave” just rocks it! But, what really got my attention is the pegboard painted like a Union Jack! I have a whole wall in my office (which is under renovation as we speak) that is pegboard. I had thought about covering it up with bead board or sheet rock. But she has given me an idea to do a painting on it! Thank you so much for that!!! I can hardly wait to get on it!

My brother in law fixes up houses to sell and his last one he painted the interior doors black. They looked great! He was nervous to do it, and now I can show him that others do it too!

I love how she used the peg board for the boy’s room. The little baskets are so useful to hold “things” and those lights! Awesome!

She does have a great eye! I wasn’t on board with gold coming back in, but now I’m rethinking. I’m kinda liking it!

I want to move in. What an amazing home. I wonder if I can make an Aussie flag like that for my teens wall, I bet he would absolutely love that.

I am in LOVE with that entry way! I’ve always loved high contrast interiors with lots of black, white, and accents but the gold is fantastic!!

Love the black doors! May use this idea in the kitchen as my front door is painted copper!

I’ve love the black interior doorway. I’ve been debating on painting mine something other than white for awhile. We have a solid door and I think it might just look like a big block of color. I’m thinking a door more like hers, with a window as the focal point would be great for painting.

Love the rooms! I painted my books black this year too and love it. The board behind the boys bed looks great. Never would have though to do that with peg board. Great Job!

I really like the black interior doors. I would never have thought of that. After seeing it I would like to do that. And the chalkboard calendar is a grea idea!

Wow. Seriously, these are some of the most beautiful ideas I’ve seen in a while. LOVE the idea of a pegboard headboard. Love the Union Jack, even if it wouldn’t go well in my home.. the pegboard headboard is amazing and could be done in so many different ways. The chalkboard wall, the black doors, the chalkboard calendar wall.. all of it! Thanks for featuring her!

I love the black door. I just painted my front door Black inside and out with white trim. It looks fantastic! I am debating on painting all of the doors in the house black. I have seen it all over the web and it really looks great. I noticed that this was the fifth house she decorated any chance she wants to make my house number six? :)
