Crafting with Paige Hill

Today I have my sweet friend Paige Hill guest posting for me. I met Paige a couple of years ago when she asked me to do a bit of work with The Creative Connection.  Paige is one of the sweetest people I know. She recently sent me the most adorable apron that she made just for me.  I love it! It’s almost too pretty to cook in. It’s posted below……

Hi everyone! My name is Paige Hill and I’m happy to be here guest posting for one of my all time favorite bloggers, Kim. You can usually find me blogging over at paige-hill.com and Cricketwallace.com. I also am the Internet Marketing Manager for Riley Blake Designs Fabric and the founder of The Utah Creative Guild. All jobs I love, but my favorite one is being a wife and mother:). riley blake fabric Kim has asked me to share my top 5 favorite projects. HMMM. How can I possibly choose 5? Isn’t that like picking a favorite child? How about we do this … I’ll share 5 projects that are special to me and why, then you comment and let ME know about a project you created that is special to you and why. Deal? DEAL!
1. The first project I picked is a trip down memory lane … Way back in the 90′s (like that was REALLY that long ago!), my parents and I had a creative business. We made snowmen, bunnies, pumpkins, witches and Uncle Sam/Aunt Samantha pole people. We had several gift stores around our area that carried our products and we were always busy … Especially around the holidays! I remember one Thanksgiving we cleared off the dishes and began to paint snowmen because we had a huge order to deliver the next day! What a crazy time! When I became pregnant with my second son, the time commitment was just too much and we said goodbye to our little business. We did manage to keep a few treasured pieces of our product, including this Uncle Sam. Now that my Dad is gone, I will always be grateful that we had that time together …

{This cute boy is now 17!}

2. I made this dress for one of my closest and dearest friends. She had suffered the devastating loss of her first born daughter, so when she announced that she was having sweet baby Sophia, I just had to make something special. I absolutely love the vintage purple trim and the beautiful floral knit … It’s the perfect dress for a princess!

3. When I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter, I was on HGTV’s “That’s Clever”. It was a fun experience. I was able to show two projects on the show, but I REALLY wanted to do this one:

The producers were worried that there wouldn’t be enough snow to show it off. Of course this was the middle of December and one of the biggest snowstorms we’ve had, but oh well … It’s still one of my all time favorites! And so easy! Click the link above for the tutorial …
4. I love sewing Halloween costumes … I could write a HUGE post about it (and I plan on doing it this year!), but I just wanted to share a picture of my all time favorite that I made …
5. I just made this Apron for Kim in appreciation for her being such a great blogging friend …
{You can read about it HERE}
That’s what I love the very best about creating any project … Giving it to someone special!
Thanks so much for letting me share some of my favorite projects … Now it’s your turn!
What is YOUR favorite creative project and why?
Please share!
~Have a wonderful day~
XOXOXO
Paige

Discussion

  1. I love all of your projects. I had to think and think and I at first thought it was all the projects I made for our grandson but then I just love it when I finish any project. I love to create things. I love to watch step by step as each project moves along imagining what it will look like even the smallest project. I just made 26 simple small tote bags, all different inside and out, for local fair prizes for their rabbit show. I just loved the pile of bags. Nothing special, not hard but I loved them. Listen to me – my simple answer is I can pick a favorite because they all my favorites. You know, maybe it is my way of making myself to not have any UFO’s anymore, being excited from start to finish. Well, it works either way.

    Happy day!!

  2. Such great projects. I agree that the best projects are gifts for special people in one’s life. My favorite project is a double canvas wall hanging I made for my Mom several years ago. It celebrates mothers and daughters. Here is a link to my blogpost about it. Hope you come over for a visit and say hello!
