Creative Ways to Decorate your Walls

Decorating Your Walls

Decorating with shutters indoors is one of my favorite ways to decorate.  It took me MONTHS to find my shutters to cover up that ugly wall hole above my fire place.  You can use any kind of shutters. Decorative shutters, outdoor shutters, plantation shutters…….even vinyl shutters.

Olive & Love

Olive & Love decided to cover the entire wall with shutters.  I think it looks amazing and I wonder how many fits that would have caused from me trying to get it aligned just right.  The color scheme is beautiful.  I love how unique this is.   This is not something you’re going to see in many homes. I am inspired by her ability to follow her own decorating voice and not what everyone else is doing.  A hard trap not to fall into.

Decorate with Maps

This project is exciting because I have a whole pile of vintage maps just waiting for the right idea.  I may  have found it.  She took her ideas and also decided to cover all the all surfaces with Maps!  This is a small office/art space off her kitchen.  This ads SO much more personality and interest.  Even better that she just tacked it up with double sided tape.   Simple and easy!

Another great thing to do with maps, is frame them.  She did these for her husband for a gift.  I’m thinking these would look great in a study, or office.  Maps are a wonderful inexpensive way to add character to your home. Her home looks lovely.  LOVING the kitchen!

I was loving that art piece on the wall.  Another item you’re not just going to find in just any home.  I was right.  It’s from a School Auction and SHE helped make it.  Each flower represents a child in the classroom.  Love that.  She has a full tutorial on her site.  I hope you’ll visit her and leave her a nice comment surprising her about her feature!

I love the shutter wall! Very cool….but I would have to say that the maps that were framed are something that my husband would love to have in his social studies classroom!!! Thanks for the great ideas!!!!

I’m thinking the map idea may just work in one of our spare bedrooms. We all love maps in our house and all the ones my husband gets from National Geographic would work well!
