5 favorite project
Hello, everyone! My name is Amy, and my blogging home is called Positively Splendid.

Helping others tap into their innate creative potential is one of my life’s truest passions, and my blog is full of detailed, step-by-step project tutorials to help individuals of all skill levels to create something beautiful that they can take pride in and enjoy. I would love for you to stop in for a visit!
I am delighted to be here at Kim’s place today to share my five favorite past creative projects. Each of these projects represents something I am particularly proud of in terms of stepping outside of my typical creative box. I hope you enjoy them, too!

1. Baby Boy Nursery

Without a doubt, the room I created for my 8-month-old son, George, is my proudest DIY accomplishment to date. With the exception of very few elements, nearly everything in this space was handmade by me for my little one. The vibrant color scheme makes my heart happy every time I walk in his room!

2. Whimsical Christmas Mantel Decor
My Christmas mantel last year was one I created out of my kiddos’ wishes for something “fun.” Little did I know, I would turn out to love this display even more than they did! The handmade silhouettes of each of their sweet profiles is one of my favorite elements here…

…and I was so proud of the fun, funky stockings I designed and sewed for each member of our family.
There are six members in our family, and we occupy a house that is just over 1800 square feet, so staying organized is imperative to keeping our family routine running smoothly. This hallway command center project was born out of my desire to find a way to keep my kiddos’ backpacks, coats and school papers organized in a manageable way. With a board and batten wall treatment, wall hooks, and a chalkboard and magnetic board and letter sorter, this project turned an unused hallway into the most efficient space in our home!

4. Lined Canvas Bins from Diaper Boxes
I like to refer to these bins as the little project that could. The idea to turn my babies’ diaper boxes into something useful, yet attractive, was the impetus for this project, and I was absolutely tickled at how well these turned out. Turning something that would otherwise be discarded into something that is not only useful, but also pretty, is so satisfying, and I have been overwhelmed at the outpouring of positive feedback I have received on this tutorial. (You can see another variation of this idea pictured in the photo of the bookshelf in the nursery I shared above.)

Every year, I look so forward to making this tiered planter for my front porch. On more than one occasion, I have had complete strangers knock on my door during their morning or evening stroll through the neighborhood asking for details for how I put this planter together. And the best part is that is it so simple to do! My first version of it is pictured below…
…and after a change of address last year, I made this polka-dotted version. This will be an annual project of mine for many years to come!
Thanks so much to Kim for having me over today! Any day is a great day when you find yourself on Today’s Creative Blog. :)
