Brown Sugar Substitute
The other night my family wanted me to make Chocolate Chip Cookies. As I started to assemble my ingredients, I realized I was OUT OF BROWN SUGAR! Crud! So I asked the wonderful TCB facebook fans if I could just use more white sugar……..NO! But I learned from those amazing people on how to make brown sugar! I ended up making the cookies Friday night and decided to try my luck at making my own brown sugar.
Brown Sugar Recipe
- 1 Cup White granulated sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Molasses (use 1 1/2 tablespoons for light brown sugar)
I used my magic bullet to mix. I poured in 1/2 cup sugar, added the molasses, then poured in the remaining sugar.
Mixed for about 3o seconds while also shaking the magic bullet.
I followed a recipe I found on Food.com, and she had mentioned she found it on Martha Stewart.
BEAUTIFUL! So easy! I’m not sure if I’ll ever go back to store bought brown sugar. I think it tasted better than store bought. It’s always nice to know you can find easy ways to substitute ingredients in a pinch.

I am pinning this idea, as you never know when you will run out of brown sugar. Thanks for sharing.
I can’t WAIT to try this out. Thanks for sharing !!!! ♥
That is such a useful shortcut. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! It makes so much more sense to make exactly what you need, rather than keeping a box in the cupboard that always seems to get rock hard before I use it. Yeah, that’s how often I get a chance to bake.
What a great idea!! Thanks for sharing!
Ok seriously this is great, I always run out of brown sugar, but I have to buy molasses now so it sort of works out even LOL.
That is awesome! Hope you don’t mind if I pin it for later:)
pin away!
Is there a artificial sweetener version?
I suppose you could try this with Truvia.
