What’s Your Bucket List?
Our friends at Just Ask want you to stay around for a good long while so you can cross activities and achievements off that bucket list of yours. That’s why they’ve developed a test that could save your life—the BRACAnalysis test—by warning you about your chances of getting breast or ovarian cancer.
Share your list and you have a shot of winning a trip of a lifetime. The grand prizes are:
-A family vacation of a lifetime to Universal Orlando® Resort.
-A Las Olas Surf Camp Safari
-Ski Lessons and stay at Park City Mountain Resort
Instead of sharing my bucket list, I thought I’d share my friend and neighbor’s bucket list.
She’s been through the hell journey of cancer. I wrote about Krista once before when asked to share more about the Just Ask campaign. You can also read Krista’s blog where she shared her cancer perspective.
Krista says:
“I had never heard of the BRCA gene until I was diagnosed with Stage 3A breast cancer a year and a half ago. The medical gurus kept saying “you’re young”… odd because I hadn’t been feeling young, I was just months into my 43rd Birthday, that’s practically middle age, grown up material.
I’m the girl that didn’t get a cavity until I turned 40… nor heard here-nor-there about any family members with breast cancer. When my BRCA test came back positive… I realized it wasn’t the margarine I consumed in the 70′s, nor the microwaving of plastic in the 80′s. All the blueberries and broccoli in my diet wouldn’t save me. It was simply my genetics that gave me 84% odds of developing breast cancer. It was a relief to know the ‘how I got it’. The what to do about it came with an extensive checklist. It’s no quick list… but I put on my big girl panties and kicked breast cancer in the ass.
I didn’t experience the big a-ha moment… the one that changes your life forever…that’s because I was already enjoying the journey… I was already doing what I professed: “people over perfection” and “taking a moment to be in the moment”. What I realized is that my a-ha moment was to continue being that girlfriend that makes you call the doctor when you’re telling yourself “it’s nothing” and to tell my story openly and honestly.
My bucket list is divided into 3 categories- Self, Home, Endeavors… it’s a play on my “Organize the Whole Shebang” philosophy that we can do it all, just not in one day, or one week, or even in one year…”
Self
- Live with my husband in 5 different places spending one year in each spot [when the kids are in college]
- Write more… without abandon, without fear of judgment
- Reclaim my fizz- all of it
- Walk more… soaking up all the beauty nature has to offer
- Coffee with my girlfriends
Home
- Live in a home with a view
- Collect memories not stuff
- Have dreamy small backyard studio to call my own
- A large patio fireplace where I can curl up with a good book and warm cup of joe
- A garden full of peonies and hydrangeas
Endeavors
- Have my blog published
- Write for a living
- Have an assistant or two
- Create my own organizing products
- Host my own show

I’m currently awaiting my BRAC1 and BRAC2 results – my mom, my aunt and a female cousin all already dx with cancer….It’s scary yet empowering at the same time being proactive this way. My bucket list is to see Europe, spend time traveling in an RV w/my husband when we are empty nesters and see my children have children of their own and be able to just be a fun grandma and supportive mom. : )

AND i did a “like” on facebook.
Probably the first thing that comes to mind when I think of a bucket list is to live on the ocean. The ocean gives me such a wonderful energy. The air is invigorating and I just feel extra creative and at peace whenever I am there. Thanks for the chance to win!

After drowning in debt from a cancer journey, I have been diligently working (lots) to get everything paid off. So my bucket list includes a wonderful spa vacation somewhere warm and sunny to get away from the dreary Oregon winter.
My bucket list is constantly morphing.. I think one item that has stayed is that I would love to go on a real deal cattle drive. I grew up riding horses and always thought the cowgirl way was for me
One of the items on my bucket list is to go to London England and the surrounding countryside of Ripley, Surrey. I’ve heard about the beauty there and of course my favorite entertainer of all time, Mr. Eric Clapton was born there and has an estate close by.
I want to go to the Grand Canyon!
