The Crafty Chica

Have you seen this woman?  The Crafty Chica….aka Kathy Cano-Murillo.  Glitter The Crafty Chica

Diary of a Crafty Chica

If you have to think about it, then you probably haven’t.  You would remember her.  I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy last year at The Creative Connection. I believe she was one of the keynote speakers.  She stole my heart right away with her passion and humor.  I immediately knew she could be my BFF.  It seems everyone felt the same way judging by the line to meet her afterwards. Glitter The Crafty Chica I did get to talk with her briefly at the book signing of her new book, but not nearly enough time for her to realize that I was her new BFF.  I can’t wait to see her again this year.

Kathy loves life and shares it.  I really think we all could have listened to her tell stories all day.

Her art is nothing less than her personality. Her style is Chicano PopArt.  Lots of color. Lots of glitter.

She has a fun series on her blog called Chubby Girl Delights and that’s where I found her wonderful altering of this Mexican dress.  So cute.dress alternation

Thanks for the story and link…she has a great website! So many ideas and books and an art cruise too…it’s obvious she lives and loves her work. And that’s how it should be! :)

What a fun surprise! Wanna know a secret? Kathy and I lived down the street from each other and went to same school growing up! She is a sheer-delight and very talented woman. While we were still living in Phoenix, I had the opportunity to bump into Kathy a couple of times at a few craft/art-shows. Lots of fun … if you ever bump into her again … tell her hello from the old neighborhood ~j.

P.S. a bit closer to you … auto-tour through Oregon this week!
