Sugar Scrubs- Home Day Spa

Sugar Scrub

It’s crunch time!   Why not give the gift of a day spa?  If you find yourself in need of a quick gift, you can make these in about 5 min if you have the supplies.   I love sugar scrubs.  Perfect for keeping those elbows and knees from getting dry.  I like sugar scrubs better than salt in the winter. Sometimes the salt stings……and that’s not how I want to wake up in the morning.   It also saves time, because then you don’t apply moisturizer after your shower.   I am up and out of the house in about 30 min M-F, so every minute counts. I think I made it and wrapped it in about 15 minutes.

How to Make Sugar Scrubs

Items needed for making Sugar Scrub

  • Sugar – I used Organic sugar – but any kind will work.
  • Almond Oil – I found mine in the Natural section of my grocery.
  • Essential oils – I used Orange because it’s the cheapest.  I also used jasmine.  (I bought my oils from Whole Foods)
  • Glass Jar or plastic- I found mine at The Dollar Store.
  • Ribbon and tags

Combine 3 Cups Sugar with 1 Cup Oil.  Drop in several drops of desired scented oil.  Mix.  Scoop into jar and seal.

I hope I gave you some quick, inexpensive ideas for those last minute gifts.

  14. Yep, I am making Spa gift sets for the gals in the family this year! I was given some loofah sets free (bought on clearance years ago and never used)…so I am adding a homemade scrub and a homemade lotion. Might should mix that up this week! LOL I am only working 2 days, so there is still time. ;-) MAYBE even time for me to indulge myself.

  15. You sent this at the perfect time! I needed that …”oh crap…what do I give” gift! I appreciate your ideas!

  16. Thanks so much for this idea. I got an infection as a child from using commercial bath bubbles, and have had a slight fear of any bath or spa products ever since! I love this because you can customize the scent and know exactly what’s going in it. Plus it’s simple enough that even I can do it! :) Thanks!

  17. Does anyone know how long you might be able to safely store something like this, by the way?

    • I think it has a fairly long shelf life, although I’ve never had it around long enough to find out. :)

  18. Wow, I used to be a spa product distributor&the sugars were the HUGE fave! Love essential oils, too. I get mine at puritan.com (puritan’s pride) cuz they have so many BOGO’s on oils&vitamins &darn near everything, but good2know WholeFoods has in a hurry. Thanks so much, too, for the giveaway opp’s! I looove MatthewMead, too, and am so tickled for you! And LisaLeonard, and Kodak-what an opportunity to *finally* “git’er done”! You’re a gem! -s-

  19. Wow it’s my lucky day!! I must confess I’ve been on a mission to simplify life and go ‘green’ while saving green. I do a lot of postings on the very topic. This sounds AMAZING! I’m totally going to do this for friends. Thanks for also noting where you got the ingredients ~ very helpful!
Oh and must say 15 min and wow that’s fast. Looks beautiful! Almond oil is amazing for the skin too. I polish my furniture with it sometimes. Whoot!

  25. I’m definitely doing this one as an after-Christmas treat for myself! ;o)

  26. I love the idea of making a giant scrub for your body! My skin is allergic to parabens which are in most drugstore body scrubs so my skin reacts!
I made a scrub last night for my face using olive oil, lemon juice, honey and sugar and it worked wonders!
