A bit ago, I did a project for Mom It Forward that started my latest obsession of Mod Podge, decoupaging anything and everything. For the lazy crafter like myself, Mod Podge is perfect. It’s very forgiving and allows for a few mistakes.
I featured Melody Ross a while ago. Love her! She’s one of those natural artists inside and out. When I saw her idea of the Mod Podge decoupaged fancy trash can, I tucked it away knowing I wanted to use that idea for inspiration for my own craft room trash can.
I went to one of my local fabric stores and found a bunch of fat quarters I loved, brought them home and cut them in different shapes. Now a normal person would have went back to look at Melody’s trash can to see what to do, but not me. I used the inspiration that was planted there a few months ago. ( I should have looked, but too late now) Her’s is still way cooler than mine, but I love it anyway. It reminds me of Melody and my new love of everything decoupage!
It’s not perfect, but it’s perfect for me and it’s perfect for my room. A little messy, a little whimsical and happy colors.
Here’s a peek at the mess I created while making my master piece.
I love how it matches my rug.
I’ve got my vintage maps out again today and my mod podge……..because I never know when to quit when I like something. You can see the table top I decoupaged with my old maps.
