Simply Spray sent me a couple of cans to try out. I didn’t have any furniture that needed painting, but I thought I’d try a rug I’ve had for a while…….one I picked up on clearance for $1…..that wasn’t my color. I knew the right project would come along eventually. I cut a monogrammed stencil and started spraying. It took about 3 coats because the rug was pretty absorbent. I think I’ll use it from the garage into the house, but those photos wouldn’t have been as pretty. (I love my red door) The rug was originally a tan color. You can only spray from a light color to a dark color.
Then I thought why not try it on my drapes in my office. I was planning on getting new ones, but now, I think I’ll keep them. The nice thing about using the stencil, is the paint wiped right off the stencil…….it didn’t stain it at all. Not really sure why that’s important to me, but I liked it.
Painting a Chair
I found this chair online from someone who was a bit more brave than me. It turned out GREAT! I found this on Better After. I think I’ve featured her before.
Before when I imagined spray painted upholstery, I imagined it would be stiff, scratchy………but seriously, it was very easy to work with. This is a simple solution to changing the color of a piece of furniture that just isn’t working for you…….and much cheaper than buying a new chair.

Kim, I’m glad I saw this post. I am working on my son’s bedroom, and may need to paint some cellular shades, since I am having trouble incorporating the current color into the new scheme, but since they are only one year old, I can’t just get new ones!
