Summer Travel ~ Windows Phone Features

It’s no secret that my month of July has been a bit crazy.  All in one month, I have been in 5 states, visited my sister and attended the EVO12 conference. A conference for Women in Social Media……..although men also go.

Windows Pin to Start

The Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone saved me more than once! It helped me in Zion and it helped me at EVO! pin it option windows phone I was reminded by another blogger (Whitney from Rookie Moms)  who was also reviewing the new Windows Phone, that you can “pin” tiles to your home page and I should just pin the EVO conference schedule for easy access instead of digging for my schedule booklet. I could have kissed her right there!  (Pin to Start is a feature found on Windows Phones)

While at EVO12, I had the pleasure of attending Dennis’ SEO class again….Every blogger has a crush on Dennis.  In a good way. He’s not only our SEO guru, but he gets us blogger girls.  He hangs out with us, he takes photos of us (he’s an amazing photographer), he tells us stories about his family………most of all, he shares his knowledge with us. To say we love him would be an understatement. Dennis was impressed with my new Windows Phone and I told him how much I loved it as I pretended to kiss it. He loved the light it shined on my face………. todays creative blog windows phone Right there, we decided to do a mini photo shoot while we finished drinking our chocolate martini’s. (that’s chocolate on the corner of my mouth) Thank you Dennis……that was fun!

Windows Phone Apps

Another great app I’m loving while traveling this summer is the Starbucks Finder app!  Let’s just say there are very few in the State of Utah. I was able to keep myself caffeinated on my 13 hour drive home, learning the location of every drive thru Starbucks between Salt Lake and Portland.

windows phone starbucks app

I also just used it in Seattle for kicks……It showed me 6 Starbucks all withing .1 miles of my location.  Now that’s heaven right there!  Where else can you stand on the street and actually SEE 2 Starbucks to choose from! (if you’re in Seattle, you probably don’t need this app……..just sayin.)

How do you use your smart phone for traveling?  Leave me a comment below and I bet if I show them what great readers I have, I’ll be able to twist their arm into letting me give one of these babies away in an upcoming post! It’s a very cool phone……everyone should have one!  (this post is not a giveaway)

Disclosure: This is pt.2 of 3 for the Nokia Lumia Windows Phone review campaign. Yes, I’m being compensated, no they don’t tell me what to say. It’s all my opinion as usual.

What a fun idea! And next time, visit AZ- I can show you some great cactus and dirt and stuff. :) Miss you!

  11. I had no idea there was a Starbuck’s app! I googled coffee shops while I was in Seattle for BlogHer Food and came up with 70 coffee shops in downtown Seattle, 40 of which were Starbuck’s!

  12. Kim, I’ve enjoyed your reviews of this phone! If I didn’t already have an iPHone I would definitely be looking into it. Seems like it has options that I would enjoy, which aren’t on the iPhone.

    Love the pic of you!!

  13. WOW!! I need those apps! I’m (finally) eligible for an upgrade next month and the hubs and I are looking into windows phones. These apps definitely make them seem EVEN better.

  16. Up until this past year I was content without a smartphone but always curious about them. Then a close family member got very sick, lots of ER trips/transfers/etc…I really wished for a phone then! And a Starbucks app would definitely have been fabulous! I would most hopefully encourage Nokia to let you do a giveaway. (crossing my fingers…) :)
And Starbucks should give you “Favorite Coffee-Loving Blogger of the Month” plaque and a boatload of coffee! ;)
